When someone files a Petition for Divorce or Legal Separation, the Snohomish County Clerk issues automatic civil restraints against both parties. Civil restraining orders protect assets, prohibit the cancelation of insurance and prohibit the removal of the children from the state of Washington.

Domestic Violence Protection Orders
If you are a victim of domestic violence, we can provide you with legal representation to protect you from further physical, emotional, psychological or financial abuse by filing a Petition for a Domestic Violence Protection Order. This Protection Order may prohibit your abuser from coming near or contacting you or, if relevant, your children. If you have another related family law action, we have years of experience helping our clients with these issues.
You may have been accused of committing domestic violence or your intimate partner or household member may have gotten a temporary domestic violence protection order against you. We vigorously represent clients against these allegations and help with divorces or paternity actions that may come before or after the formal accusations. Call our office to explore your rights in civil court and develop a strategy going forward.
If you are currently experiencing violence at the hands of an intimate partner or someone in your household, please contact Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County at 425-25-ABUSE or at www.dvs-snoco.org.
